Lavosh – Bold in flavour and appearance.
Here at the Isle of Skye Baking Company, we have a strong belief in supporting local producers, and, as such, we do our best to source the majority of our ingredients accordingly. However, we also love welcoming people from all over the world and embracing different cultures, which in turns helps inform us with ideas for new and exciting recipes and products.
Our cheese and highland-charcuterie platters have proved to be extremely popular over the years, and while our traditional hand-made Scottish oatcakes will always take pride of place on them, we thought that the platters would act as a perfect platform to experiment with new flavours and engage our customers with some eye-catching and exotic-tasting creations.
Our latest source of inspiration, lavosh, was drawn from Europe and the Middle East. Lavosh, depending on which country you are in, is a bread that can be made soft like a tortilla or hard like a crispbread or cracker. In Armenia, for example, it is said to symbolise life and wisdom and is also thought to be a favourite throughout households in the eastern european country, especially during festivals.
Our contemporary lavosh flavours combine different ingredients, and are very much in keeping with our ethos of blending traditional recipes with modern ideas. The lavosh is bold and striking both visually and in terms of the flavours employed. It has a strong appeal as a stand-alone product, while also complementing more traditional favourites such as our cheese and highland-charcuterie platters.
Our lavosh jaggies come in a range of flavours;
Hot, Spicy Butternut Squash
