Many of the customers who visit the bakery often like to spend some time enjoying a leisurely lunch in the company of family, or perhaps tucking into a slice of one of our delicious cakes over an afternoon coffee with an old friend. However, a great deal of visitors also can’t resist taking home some of our sought after range of hand-made shortbread, oatcakes and our latest creation, lavosh jaggies, as they venture forth on their travels.
But who, we hear you ask, is responsible for making these delicious delights?
Step forward…… Sam Macfarlane.
22 year-old Sam was born in the building which houses the bakery, where he was raised by wolves, before Barry the baker took him under his wing nearly five years ago. Well, the part about the wolves isn’t strictly true, although Sam has been a key component in the Isle of Skye Baking Company’s progression from an ambitious venture to a thriving business which has forged its place as an important part of the local community.
An avid fan of both football and film, Sam is never happier than when he’s talking about Man City or the latest action movie. As an aficionado of both Marvel and DC, his favourite character is Thor, and with his tireless approach and talent for making shortbread and oatcakes, it surely won’t be long before he can sport the biceps to match his hero.
Although he possess a wealth of knowledge about a wide variety of films and actors, he does have an unhealthy obsession with Michael Caine impressions.
