The Australian group, Men at Work, once sang ‘I come from a land down under’ (a fantastic song, we’re sure you’ll agree) those sentiments could possibly be apt for one of the members of staff at our Skyeworks Gallery. Although the person in question actually ventured up from England, the travel between the south of England and the Misty Isle, probably at times, seems tantamount to a trip to Australia and back.
The person in question is…………… Katie T.
Happy, care-free and perhaps even idealistic, Katie arrived in Skye in the Autumn of 2014 and quickly set about finding a perfect island retreat, which she could call home. She soon accomplished her mission, with the only problem being that she now resides in the middle of nowhere, living off her senses and the benevolence of strangers. That said, her twice-weekly 20-mile trek has not deterred her passion.
Katie, a portrait painter specialising in military and equestrian subjects, lends her creativity to every aspect of her work, as well as playing an important role in the more artistically-orientated demands of the Skyeworks Gallery, she also embraces more novel tasks, such as writing up the names of our breads, cakes and lunch-breads in her own inimitable style.
Katie has taken no time at all to fit in and has quickly become a valuable asset to the gallery. Having spent a few months on the island, Katie would admit herself, she has fallen for the charms that Skye has to offer, indeed she writes a blog about her life on the island which you can have a look at via the link below.
